The Ludwig LB402BBTWM Chrome-Plated Brass Shell, Supraphonic Snare Drum features Die-Cast Hoops, Millennium Strainer, and Brass Tube Lugs.
Ludwig's Chrome over Brass snare drum, introduced in 1960 as the Super Ludwig, was the predecessor to the Supraphonic. The brass alloy coupled with a chrome plating offers the musical undertones favored of brass with just the right touch of added focus and treble. Though short lived from its original release, the COB would go on to become one of the most sought after and in demand drums that would lead to its re-release in the 90's. Ludwig Brass Snares project with bright, soaring highs and a crisp sensitivity essential for capturing every stroke. This drum features a spun seamless brass shell, with brass plated P86 Millenium Strainer, brass plated P33 Butt Plate, Brass Tube Lugs, and Brass die cast hoops.
Die-Cast Hoops
Die-cast hoops give it a sharp, focused sound. The added weight of the hoop also helps keep the drum in tune longer as well as create a well-defined rim-shot and side sticking.
