This is a very very nice 2011 Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 reissue, in very good condition. It’s got a few dings and scratches on it. Nothing major. It’s a gigging guitar. I do all of my own guitar work and I have it set up for 10 gauge and for bendy rock playing. It’s got the orange drop capacitors in it and 500k CTS pots.
It came with Gibson Classic 57 humbuckers, which I hate. I still have them in a box and will include them in the sale, but it’s got a set of Seymour Duncan Seth Lover PAFs in it now and they sound amazing. They’re unpotted so they’re a bit brighter than normal PAFs and they don’t have the obnoxious mid-push thing going on that the Classic 57s have. If you want to play metal or industrial or something you might want to put the 57s back in. What I love about the Seth Lovers is that they will give you an almost Strat-like sound if you EQ it carefully, particularly in the neck position. They sound a lot like P90s in many respects but without the hum and the bridge pickup does that Mick Ronson, David Bowie thing that I love so much.
I’ve got a set of Kluson Deluxe LOCKING tuners on it, which are a game-changer and I’ve also got a String Bulter ($60 value) on it which just removes any and all tuning issues. I was playing three 1-hour sets per night and I didn’t want to be returning the guitar every few songs. The String Butler is no substitute for having a good bone nut on there, but when you have both? It’s magic. I have the original tuners too, but why bother?
I’ve tried to photograph all of the little dings. The most noticeable is some buckle rash on the back, but none of that goes deeper than the finish. On the bottom there are some impurities in the nitrocellulose lacquer resulting from it being placed on a stand with a rubber shelf. Just in case you didn’t know, normal guitar stands wilL EAT nitrocellulose lacquer. You’ve been warned. I use only Hercules stands and wall mounts now for that reason.
$1750 is a very fair price, especially since it comes with the original case, original tuners, a set of Gibson Classic 57 humbuckers and the String Butler. This guitar plays like butter and is all sorts of sexy.
I’ve got Dunlop strap locks on it as well, which I’ll throw in. I do have the original strap pegs too, but again, why bother? Nobody needs their guitar falling off while on stage. Only an idiot to allow that to happen. :)
Local pickup only. I am open to short term layaway offers if deemed serious. I've been doing a lot of those lately and it's been working out for everyone.
