Part time freelance mechanic (10-20+ hours per week) needed to come to our facility to perform vehicle inspections, routine maintenance and minor repairs. We are a private shop. We do not accept outside work. Vehicles are mostly light duty pickup trucks, commercial utility pickup trucks, and vans but there are occasional SUV's and other vehicles. Change filters and fluids, replace wiper blades, test and replace batteries, replace burned out bulbs/ broken light housings, plug tires, scan OBD reader for codes, replace belts and hoses, etc. We do not expect you to do major repairs but if you can handle more advanced stuff like brakes and tune ups, it's a plus.
We also work on other kinds of motorized equipment such as golf carts, generators, gas saws, compressors, forklifts, etc. If you have experience with small engine repair, auto body, welding or have painting skills for minor exterior work, that's a plus but not required.
We are looking for someone who is somewhat experienced, a good communicator and reliable. You do not need to be a professional auto mechanic but if you are, that's a plus. An advanced motorsports/ machine/ marine hobbyist or someone in another mechanical trade that can do this type of work proficiently is acceptable. If you're the can-do MacGyver type, all the better. You will primarily work independently but will collaborate with our other techs on some projects so the ability to play nice with others is required.
Hours and schedule are very flexible (we operate from about 9:30 am - 6 pm M-F). Valid drivers license and a basic set of hand tools are required. Does not have to be elaborate but at least a small set of wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc. We will provide service carts and more advanced tools.
