While you’ll report to senior Project Managers and Supervisors, you’ll be expected to pick up meaningful responsibility, manage portions of the build, and help keep jobs moving when leadership is pulled elsewhere.
THE TYPE OF CARPENTER WE’RE LOOKING FOR
This role is for a carpenter who:
Works independently and takes ownership of their scope
Has strong plan-reading skills and can build accurately from drawings and details
Is comfortable using technology on the job (phone, tablet, plans, photos, basic software)
Understands remodel construction and field problem-solving
Can manage carpentry tasks and sequencing without constant oversight
Communicates clearly with PMs, supervisors, and other trades
Takes pride in craftsmanship and professional job sites
Is comfortable stepping into a leadership role when needed
This is not an apprentice role. You should be confident in your skills and judgment and able to run with tasks once direction is set.
SKILL SET & EXPERIENCE
Because we are a custom remodeler, this role requires versatility. Experience may include:
Production framing and structural remodel work
Finish carpentry, trim, cabinetry, and built-ins
Layout and execution directly from plans and specs
Assisting with concrete work, forms, and structural prep
Waterproofing fundamentals (windows, doors, decks, flashing)
Exterior work including siding and decks
On-site problem solving and custom fabrication
Coordinating carpentry work within tight remodel conditions
Using digital plans, photos, and field documentation tools
You don’t need to be an expert in every area, but you should be capable across many.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute rough and finish carpentry on custom remodel projects
Read and build from plans, details, and specifications
Take ownership of assigned carpentry scopes
Manage day-to-day carpentry workflow when required
Coordinate with Project Managers and Supervisors on progress and needs
Use technology to review plans, document work, and communicate clearly
Identify and communicate issues before they become problems
Maintain clean, safe, inspection-ready job sites
Represent Kellow Construction professionally with clients and trades
Support less experienced crew members as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
5–10 years of residential construction or remodel experience
Strong ability to read and execute from plans (required)
Comfortable using technology in the field (required)
Ability to work independently and manage tasks
Solid understanding of sequencing and field coordination
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and personal tools
Physically capable of full-time field work
Clean driving record and background check
Professional jobsite appearance and demeanor
Dependable, organized, and accountable

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hourly pay based on experience
Full-time position, overtime eligible
Benefits include:
$450/month employer contribution toward health insurance
