Buddy has been a barn cat, living near the Grounds Area building on Cal Poly's campus for nearly his entire life of 16 years. Recently the ground’s staff became aware of health problems he was experiencing, including being deaf and being hyperthyroid, so it was decided he needed to take up a new residency at the CPCP shelter. This would guarantee Buddy would be safe, comfortable, treated for his condition, and well looked after for his remaining days.
The transition was easy for Buddy because over the years he has become more and more attached to his two-legged friends. He is extremely affectionate, adores strokes and rubs and will wait patiently for a volunteer to come by and give him a pet on the head and say hello. A cuddle would be welcomed too!
He is rather frail and a bit wobbly when he walks so his movements can be limited. At least he won’t jump up on things he shouldn’t! Buddy has quickly become a favorite at the shelter, his sweet and gentle personality will draw you in; no one can resist this little sweetheart.
This is an emotional and challenging situation and calls for a special solution and a special person to be his hero. The ideal situation would be for Buddy to find a new forever indoor home. Another possibility would be for someone to step in and foster him temporarily to give him a calm home setting to relax for a bit. We’ve all fallen in love with Buddy and he’s responded in kind with his loving friendship to us.
