1979-81 Music Man Sabre bass with it's original MM case! IF YOU SEE THIS, IT'S AVAILABLE.
The pictures were taken BEFORE service and deep cleaning.
$2000, firm. CASH ONLY IN PERSON. I'll sell it on Reverb for more eventually.
Like a Stingray but with two pickups instead of one for MORE sounds. This was just fully serviced and when I plugged it in I almost fell over. WHAT AN ARRAY of TOP NOTCH TONES! All that my '78 Stingray offered me, but more low end. Can sound like a P or Jazz or Stingray and more.
I've priced it lower than the pre-EB Sabres on Reverb in the US. The cheapest is $3200 more plus shipping and tax, or you can get an early EB version for $2500 + shipping and tax or get a fretless for $2700.
I owned a '78 Sting Ray that was my all time favorite bass, the perfect sound recorded via direct box, but had to sell it around 2000 due to lack of funds. I bought this about 8 years ago and forgot about it, playing my other basses instead.
Frets are in good condition and it appears to be all original, though quite used. I'll get new photos up soon of how it looks after being fully gone through.
I just had it fully set up, cleaned up, the battery wire redone, but still all original. He went through the entire bass, the electronics and cleaned it all up. Tuners lubed and all, chrome polished. The mute sponges were hardened so Jim scraped them off their adjustable prongs. Done by legendary Santa Barbara luthier JIM LOMBARD.
Original Hard Shell Case that is pretty beat, but works (missing MM logo on one side).
