I'm basically in search of a metal unicorn, to be honest. I am learning how to ride a motorcycle, and I want my own bike. I'm new, so I don't want something difficult to ride or in bad shape. Nothing that needs a lot of fixing please. I absolutely do not mind some cosmetic damage, as long as it doesn't affect the performance at all. I'll probably add some scratches so no big deal if it's got some already.

Ideally it would be a 250cc. Nothing lower, and I will consider higher, but probably nothing higher than a 500 or 650 tops. I'd like to live through this experience.
Also I'm pretty small, so not a big bike made for a manly man, but something that would fit a shorter rider, and not so heavy that I wouldn't be able to lift it back up if I laid it down. I'm not weak but this is a huge hunk of metal we are talking about here.
I tend to really like the cruiser types, but the older ones seem to be over 400 lbs and that's kind of the limit I'd like to stick around. So probably a 2000 or newer year. And not too many miles on it, I hope to keep it and ride it for a while so I want to make sure it's got a lot of life left in it when I purchase it.
Oh yeah and I don't have a ton of money because I also need to get the safety basics. So something that is right about $1,000 or under. Basically, a 300 lb bike with a low seat height under $1,000 would be a miracle.
If you think you have something that may be my metal unicorn, please text me with this wonderful information immediately. If you think you have something that fits most of these requirements, shoot me a text. I will consider most bikes. If you read this far, thank you for your patience. Maybe you have the bike I'm looking for!
-250cc ideally, up to 500 or 650 if everything else is perfect
-it needs to run and it needs to run well
-no crazy high mileage please, I want to keep it for a while and be sure it'll last me
-seat on the shorter side of things to fit a small person
-weight on the lower side so it is less likely to crush me
-around or under $1,000
-scratches are fine, naked or faired, either way
