Antique Nepalese Carved Wooden Lute Musical Instrument Dragon
My grandmother traveled the world, and spent 7 years in Kathmandu, Nepal, working for the kind of Nepal as the nursing director to teach the women of rural villages about Neo-natal and pregnancy care. This was in the 1970-80s. You can see her rice paper letterhead and her trekking permit from the Majesty's government (these are not included).
This hand carved wooden lute/musical instrument is one of the treasures she brought back with her.
It is a beautiful example of their artistry and craftsmanship. There are no strings anymore, and a few of the wooden pegs are missing or broken. The leather of the head/drum is intact and attached well still. For its age and travels, it is in excellent condition.
