I recently took in a cat that had been abandoned at my apartment complex. I took him into the vet just to get checked out and see if he was ok. He is a neutered male about 8 or 9 years old and I named him Valentino. I got the blood test results back and it turns out he has hyperthyroidism and an elevated kidney enzyme. There is a chance that he has kidney disease but it is unknown because the hyperthyroidism can mask it. If it turns out that he does not have the kidney disease then the procedure to fix the hyperthyroidism is around $2000. If he does have kidney disease then I only have to give him an oral pill that is easier for me to afford. I'm a student at the City College and I can't afford to pay all of this so I was wondering if there is anyone out there that is willing to help me out with donations. The vet I'm taking him to is Noah's Ark in Goleta and they have been awesome to me and Valentino. I don't want him to go on being sick like this but I know that I cannot afford to make him better on my own. If anyone is willing to help out myself and Valentino would greatly appreciate it. Any donation is appreciated. And if there is something I can do to repay anyone that helps me I'd have no problem doing it.

We are trying to put together a program that helps at-risk youth. Over the summer,the plan is to pair a couple of kids with their own outboard motor to rebuild. Structured around the big-brothers program...the goal is to give kids something to do over the summer that trains a skill (mechanics) and builds self-esteem and good character. Upon completion, the motor would be available on one of our boats for the kids to use for fishing etc.

We would like to have several motors available so the kids can work as a team.

My friend has done this in Minnesota for three years in a row...and has won acclaim from the community for having a positive influence on youth. I want to do the same.

The motor that you donate should be rebuildable (does NOT need to be running...) and should be of a size that can be moved around by one person. Probably 25 HP and under...

That motor that has been collecting dust in your garage can be put to good use....

My mother has been diagnosed withe 4th stage cancer that has now spread to her brain. I live in Carpinteria, CA and she and my sister live on Maui, Hawaii. The doctors have given her only 6 months to a year to live. (3 months ago) I have been to see her twice already (wish I could go full time, but funds won't allow it) but cannot afford to go again. My father is going to visit her the 2nd week in June and if I could find a way to get a ticket, this would be the last time the whole immediate family (4 of us) would be able to all be together before we lose my mother. The entire family has been overwhelmed financially, I have had to file for bankruptcy as a result, so we cannot afford my ticket. If anyone out there should have a ticket that they cannot use and/or is non-refundable (that I could legally use) I and my entire family would be SO VERY grateful for any help we could get with facilitating my trip there. (OR any accomodations I could use on ANY visit as there is not room in my sister's home for all of us) I could leave from Los Angeles or Santa Barbara and would fly to Kahului (or any airport on Maui) I could NEVER lie about something like this and would be more than happy to show my mother's doctor's reports with her diagnosis on them. My father will be there from June 4th through June 10th and I would love to be there for that time. I do have a commitment to be at my daughter's high school graduation on June 11th, which complicates things just a bit. Again, ANY help with this or any future trips to visit with my mother in her final days would be so very much appreciated and my mother would be SO grateful as she doesn't get to see me (her baby of 48 years old) nearly as often as she would like as it is. I can also leave/return through Palm Springs airport as thay is where my father will be leaving from. Thank you for your consideration.

My 50 year old father has had many strokes in the past 3 years. which have left him with a very limited memory of his past. and he's partially crippled, and so now he is un able to do much other than sit and watch TV. I am his 27 year old son, I live with him and take care of him. And something he likes to do is watch movies. anyway since his strokes he has been depressed, and watching movies is about the only thing that seems to excite him and brighten him up. So I have been collecting Pepsi points so I can get the movie Open Season (Widescreen Special Edition). I don't know why but, for some reason, he loves these types of movies, (maybe because since his strokes, he personality is more like a young childs now) When I saw how much he enjoy's watching movies, how they seem to make him forget his health problems. It just made me want to get more for him. my father and I are both disabled, and I can't afford to go out and buy $20 DVD's.
