• We are seeking infants from 3 to 9.5 months of age.
• Participation in this project includes one session, lasting 30 minutes to one hour.
• You and your child will receive $10 per half hour for your participation.
• Each session will be run at the Cognition and Development Lab at UCSB. We will arrange parking for you on campus and reimburse you for any parking expenses you incur.
• During each session, we will present your child with different objects (either real objects or images on a computer screen) and measure the time s/he looks at each object. All objects will be child-safe.
• You will remain with your child at all times during the session.
• Children usually enjoy the sessions. However, you are free to discontinue your child’s participation at any time. We will only begin a session with your child if s/he is willing to participate.
• The identity and contact information of you and your child will be protected at all times.
• No individual names will be attached to the records of your child’s responses. We are interested in group performance and not individual assessment (for example, how three month olds as a group might differ from six month olds).

Here's a little bit about myself:
I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida with wonderful parents and two younger sisters. I am very family oriented, and really enjoy growing close to the families that I work with. I babysat a lot in college and upon graduating, I decided to take it a step further and teach inside the classroom. I absolutely loved teaching Pre School, but after a year I wanted to venture outside of Florida. San Francisco was everything I hoped it would be, and I found an incredible family to work for. I spent two exciting years with twins, Brendan and Catherine, before moving to Honolulu to be closer to my boyfriend who was studying at the University of Hawaii. I got really lucky once again, and connected with a loving and warm family who treated me as their own. We just moved back to California last week, and I am looking forward to finding that special connection again!
Below is a little insight to my approach regarding childcare:
I love to be active with children that I take care of. Daily field trips to the zoo, playgrounds, museums and beach are some of my favorite activities! I also love baking- it’s a great way to work on fine motor skills! Reading is also very important to me, no matter how young the child may be. I try to incorporate story time several times throughout our day, as well as singing and working with puzzles. Healthy snacks and meals would also be a significant part of our day. I love getting creative in the kitchen! As far as disciplinary actions go, I always follow the guidelines and suggestions of the parent. Ultimately, I see my role as the nanny as someone who loves and cares for the children, educates them in a fun and entertaining way, and who always has their best interest at heart.
I am also willing to commute to areas such Santa Barbara, Montecito, Carpinteria, Ojai and other cities that are reasonably close.

A little bit about my babysitting experience:
I have been babysitting since I was 14 or so and generally I’m used to 2-3 kids but feel comfortable babysitting up to 4 kids at a time. I enjoy spending time with both boys and girls of any ages. Since my start of sitting I have sat for about 10 or so families total with children ranging from ages 9 months to 12 years. I was also a teacher’s aide for my local elementary school (1st grade) for 2 summers in a row and a 5th grade camp counselor.
