This study group is limited to fourteen participants and will meet from 9:30 to 12:30 eight Saturday mornings over three months, January 9, through March 9, 2009.

Membership is limited to individuals who have practiced a healing discipline such as psychotherapy, personal coaching, somatic therapy, or spiritually oriented counseling for at least two years.

The purpose of this group is to support each participant in identifying and enhancing their natural healing style using presentations, exercises, music, movement, group process, and enactments.

Each Saturday we will explore a series of perspectives that include potentially paradigm altering perspectives and techniques from a variety of disciplines, systems, and wisdom traditions. Participants will be encouraged to integrate elements that are particularly exciting and relevant to them in their life and work, and to record their insights, awakenings, and reactions in ongoing growth journals. The principles and practices of Mindful Manifestation will be a continuing theme in our process.


A brief outline of topics includes:

· Week 1: We’ll introduce ideas about Natural Healing Style, use mind maps to begin to discern elements and systems we bring to bear in our healing work, and ground ourselves in the evolutionary push toward greater complexity and deeper consciousness beginning with the Big Bang and extending through us into the future.

· Week 2: We will explore an overview of integral psychology and masculine/feminine aspects, essences, and polarity, and how they impact every aspect of our lives and work.

· Week 3: We will delve more deeply into development with an emphasis on secure and insecure attachment styles in infants, adults, couples, and families. Our perspectives will range from Rupert Sheldrakes work with morphogenetic fields to recent research in interpersonal neurobiology.

· Week 4: The inevitable development of psychological defenses and the central importance of shame emotions in understanding and working with defensive states will be explored. We will examine characterological and neurotic defensive states, the ontogony of defensive states, and the pervasive agenda in therapy of supporting clients self-regulating from defensive states to states of healthy response to the present moment.

· Week 5: There will be special emphasis on narcissism and borderline personality disorder as conceptualized and addressed by Bateman and Fonagy in their groundbreaking clinical and theoretical book, The Psychotherapy of Borderline Personality Disorders. We will explore psychotherapy as mindful manifestation and Roger Walsh’s teachings about karma yoga as an organizing principle for conceptualizing optimal health and development.

· Week 6: We will explore ascending and descending spirituality as they relate to life, intimacy, masculine/feminine dynamics, and psychotherapy. We will experiment with various approaches including nature mysticism, deity mysticism, causal mysticism, and non-dual awareness.

· Week 7: We will examine autobiographical narrative from an attachment perspective, a developmental neurobiological perspective, and how supporting coherent autobiographical narratives is a sub-text to all healing work.

· Week 8: We’ll begin with an integration of previous work, followed by sharing insights, paradigm shifts, mind-maps, and new conceptualizations of our natural healing styles. We will celebrate our group and consider further developmental steps.

Dates/times: Eight Saturday mornings, January 09 through March 09, 2009 based on availablilty.

Place: 2860 Kenmore Place, Santa Barbara.

Cost: $400 for the entire seminar. $100 deposit secures membership in the group (refundable up to one week before our first class)Please see registration info, below.

This six-hour experiential workshop will be limited to fourteen professional level therapists. Mind maps will help you explore current natural healing styles, and we’ll expand into perspectives and techniques from Dr. Witt's book "The Gift of Shame," interpersonal neurobiology, Integral Psychology and many other areas to generate paradigm-shifting expansions of your healing gifts and clinical approaches.

Presentations, music, movement, clinical enactments, and group processing will be used throughout the day to access as many learning channels as possible.

Questions to be explored:

· What are effective clinical applications of understanding shame emotions as guides to growth?
· How do nervous systems develop in relationship to others, and how can we use this information for more effective therapy?
· How can we practically apply Integral psychology to the therapy session?

These and other questions will be explored and answered in this workshop.

The festival will be held on Saturday, December 6th, from 10AM to 4PM at Godric Grove in Eling's Park. Santa Paws will be there and you will be able to have your dog(s) photo taken with Santa!
