Do you feel dizzy after you clean the bathroom? Does you skin itch after cleaning the oven or your eyes water while cleaning the windows? Go to your cupboard right now. Pick a cleaner, any cleaner. Does it contain sodium hydroxide, phenol, ammonia or formaldehyde? These–and more–are toxic. Toxic as in dangerous, as in hurtful, as in not very clean at all. Home is no place for stuff like that. Here are some facts:
• Chlorine Bleach: Most frequently involved in household poisonings in the US.
• Degreasers: most contain petroleum distillates, which can damage lung tissues and dissolve fatty tissue around the nerve cells.
• Glass Cleaners: Most contain ammonia, which can irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory system.
• Oven Cleaners: can be one of the most dangerous cleaning products, which can cause severe damage to eyes, skin, mouth, and throat.
• Toilet Bowl Cleaners: can be extremely dangerous cleaning products - harmful if inhaled, fatal if swallowed.
This seminar will discuss the short term and long term effects of these chemicals and will move into how to change these commonly used toxins to cleaning products that are no more expensive but are safe for you, your family, and your planet.
