Come out to Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy’s Second Annual 5K Run for the San Diego River Trail Run / Walk on Saturday, May 17, 2008. In celebration of San Diego River Days, Lakeside’s River Park is preparing the trail for a scenic run or walk. The 5K course takes you through the park over rolling hills, across the San Diego River, through dry brush, overlooking water, and enjoying views of El Capitan Mountain. This course offers diversity, scenery, shade, and a ¾ mile section that is fast and flat with a demanding finish, a fun trail for all runners and walkers. This is a family friendly event, all ages are welcome to sign up and enjoy the park, even four legged friends on leashes are allowed to join in as long as you remember the “poo bag.”
Registration for all ages is just $20 through Friday, May 9, and $25 after that date. Fees directly benefit Lakeside’s River Park and its future. The start and finish line is located on the River Park property, on Channel Road and Mapleview in Lakeside, west of Café 67 and just north of Marco Crane.
The race begins at 8:00am with registration opening at 7:00am. Sign up early to make sure you receive a T-shirt and are part of this Second Annual Event. Go to www.lakesideriverpark.org to get a registration form, and mail it to Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy, P.O. Box 2239, Lakeside CA 92040.
