We are a new non profit organization that started a fruit picking project in Santa Barbara, for the less fortunate who don't get there daily dose of healthy foods, because they can't afford to buy it.
How it works:
We have 3 professional fruit pickers who come from Ventura every Thursday morning with a truck, ladder and picking bags. We take the fruit you don't want, and leave the rest for you. We also clean all the rotten fruits around the trees.
A little more about the project:
We currently reach about 400 kids at Canalino, Aliso and the Middle School in grades K through 8 and their families. There are 72 trailers at the Camper Park and 51 apartments at Dahlia Court. I do not know how many people live at both sites but would estimate that the minimum for each trailer or apartment would be 4 to 6 people. I know that some of the trailers have at least 8 people.
The vegetable distribution has been an amazing boost for these folk as is the fresh fruit.

If you might have some unwanted fruit that go bad on your trees, please help us out in giving to those who really need it!
Thank you for your time.
