A friend has been married for over 24 years. Her husband moved out of the house as he is having an affair. When the friend wanted to file for divorce, she discovered that the husband made her sign a paper which claims she has no right to the house they purchased. (The friend is a foreigner and had no idea what she signed). The house is now only in the husband's name. Does the husband have the sole right to the house, even though he conned her? How can she prevent him from taking out a home equity loan and leaving the country? P.S. : She has no money and the lawyers she talked to want her to pay upfront. They do not want to bill her husband. Thanks for your help.
