More than any other art form, it may be said that Rock and Folk music of the 60's and early 70's was a reflection of the rise in the consciousness movement that continues today. Drawing upon examples such as the connection
of the Beatles and Donovan to the Maharishi, we will explore how an interest in mystical, holistic and esoteric philosophies were reflected in popular music.
Using Jung's symbolic and imaginative approach to the psyche, exercises are aimed at understanding how self-understanding can occur through our interactions with music. Students are encouraged to share their own experiences of the music of this time and how it is relevant today.
